Well, even though we made no sales on dA we made a few out there in the real world. We didn't have a very long run but we got shot down by a new law that, honest to god, could destroy the united states.

The Customer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) was asked to write a law for lead testing in children's toys. the law they wrote ended up stating that anyone selling *children's toys had to have them tested for lead if the manufacturer doesn't do so. also you have to have written proof that what your selling was tested for lead. that sounds well and fine until you find that testing cost on average between $300 and $4000 (with four zeros). also you find that this law applys to handmade toys. and by toys they mean anything that can be marketed to children or that the consumers generally see as a child's item. this includes but is not limited to toys, books, charms, clothes, furniture, and more. which means our stars are toys and we could face a $100,000 fine PER STAR that we sell after the date of February 10th.
also EVERY SINGLE STAR would have to be tested, because sculpy(the brand of clay we tend to use) cannot show that the clay we used was lead free when they made it, because they didn't have to test it then.
this applies to everything already out there, including books. that means libraries have to do one of 2 things on the 10th.
1) take EVERY CHILD'S BOOK out for testing. in every library in the united states. all at once.

or 2) which is more likely and sad. ban children from all US libraries and ban children's books in general. this also includes text books and all children's books in school libraries.

as you can see no one was thinking when this law was made. also, congress passed the law without looking it over in detail, and Bush signed it after them. when several people wrote their local congressmen the reply they got was an outstanding "what?"

so yah we're done. Its been great for the time it lasted but its over. and I don't just mean our shop. good luck to everyone after the 10th, most shop owners and business people alike are calling it "nation bankrupt day"...
